A.C. Forrest
The A.C. Forrest Memorial Award is presented annually in honour of A.C. Forrest who was Editor of the United Church Observer for 23 years. It is presented for excellence in socially conscious religious journalism. The award is sponsored by the A.C. Forrest Awards Committee of the United Church Observer Board of Directors together with the Canadian Church Press. ENTRY GUIDELINES
The article or articles should be based on current news events or trends that raise religious ethical questions. Judges will consider quality of writing, depth of research, relevance and originality.
1. Entries will be judged based on the criteria set out above.
2. Prizes will be awarded: $1,000 for the first prize, and up to three honourable mention prizes of $100 each (at the discretion of the judges). Entries will be judged by a panel representing the A.C. Forrest Award Committee and CCP.
3. Tear sheets (two copies) must be attached to the entry form included in the CCP mailing. Submissions must have been published in 2009. A maximum of three entries per publication is allowed.
4. Stories which have been entered for CCP awards are also eligible for the A.C. Forrest Memorial Award. It is open competition. Individual writers or teams of writers are eligible; either staff or freelance, or combination.
